David Harbour Says Marriage to Lily Allen Is ‘So Great’: ‘We Grow Closer and Closer’ (Exclusive)

David Harbor and Lily Allen are happily in love!

While attending the BoxLunch holiday gala honoring nonprofit Feeding America in Hollywood earlier this week, the actor, 48, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about his marriage to Allen, 38, which he said is going “so well.”

Describing how his relationship with his musician wife has been affected by the actors’ strike that ended Thursday, Harbor said: “Ultimately, it’s very good because you get to know someone.”

“But let me tell you, my wife loves it when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her own life and for me to have my own life and not bother each other by being there all the time,” he continued. .

“We have these two kids, and it’s so great,” Harbor added, referring to his stepsons, Allen’s daughters Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10. “We’ve got to raise them and stuff, and as our marriage goes on, we get closer and closer.”

In the midst of the strike, Harbor felt “bad” for Allen, admitting he was “sitting on the couch depressed as hell” and doing “nothing”.

“It was bad,” the actor told PEOPLE. “It’s like what happened to me in the same way in COVID, where you think to yourself like, ‘Oh, now, somehow I have all this time.’ And then you’re just checking your Google alerts every five minutes and you’re just neurotically insecure.”

The actor announced his marriage to Allen at the gala dinner.

Harbor and Allen married in Las Vegas in September 2020, during a ceremony officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.

The wedding took place a year after the duo became Instagram official when Harbor shared a photo of them together at Disney World.

In September, Allen paid tribute to Harbor on their third wedding anniversary, writing: “3 years with this guy, second best decision I ever made. First was that dress.”

Harbor also told PEOPLE at the gala this week that he’s “super excited to get back to work” on season five Stranger Thingswhich he said starts production next week.

“They literally called me, I think it was 10 minutes after SAG on Twitter,” he said. “The first AD [Assistant Director] is like, ‘So find yourself a flight on Monday, right?’ We will be acting in Atlanta.’ ”

“I’m delighted with it. I am ready to work – added the actor.
