Dax Shepard Asks Cynthia Erivo If Her Talon Nails Get in the Way When 'Wiping' — and She Shuts Him Down Like a Boss

Cynthia Erivo doesn’t think her claw nails are getting in the way of her bathroom duties.

While appearing on Armchair expert with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman to talk WickedShepard asked Erivo, 37, if her long nails make it difficult to wipe her bottom after going to the bathroom. Before Shepard, 49, even finished the question, the Oscar nominee knew exactly what was coming next.

“I knew you were going to ask that question,” she said, adding that “no one is afraid” to ask it.

“My answer is that no one uses just their fingers to wipe their bottom,” Erivo continued. “Use a tissue, right? And you delete!”

Shepard then rephrased his question. “Does the tissue go on top of the nail or are you trying to take the tissue…” he said before stopping. “Finger pads,” Erivo said.

“Great, great, great, now we’re getting something,” Shepard said. “Then you just sometimes feel the slight tickle of nails on the crack of your bottom?”

Erivo said that is not the case because she uses tissues.

After joking that he would make a glove out of toilet paper if he had nails like Erivo, Shepard asked her if she was offended or annoyed by the question.

“It annoys me. I say, ‘Come on, guys,'” Erivo said. “But I get it, but it’s also, like, ‘I’m a functioning adult and I’ve never walked around smelling, you know…’”

Shepard felt that since everyone thinks Erivo is selling “so well that the question is, ‘How do you brush your hair?’ ”

“Very good,” Erivo said, while Padman, 37, explained that the question was probably a reflection of people asking him because they couldn’t wipe properly with their fingernails like Erivo’s.

“Here’s the thing, there are people who don’t have fingernails who need to check how they wipe,” Erivo said.

Before moving on to the next topic, Erivo joked that people ask her how she manages to do anything with her nails. “And I’m like, ‘I mean, I’m here!’ she said. “I’m dressed.”
