Deacon Phillippe Joins Mom Reese Witherspoon for First Golden Globes, Reveals His Curfew Rules for the Night

Reese Witherspoon was joined by another special guest at the 2024 Golden Globes: her son Deacon Phillippe!

While walking the red carpet at the Variety Golden Globes preview, The Morning show the actress (47) was joined by her 20-year-old son Deacon.

“This is my first Golden Globes and really my first awards show,” Deacon said in an interview.

He later revealed the main things his mom told him to remember while on the show. “There are two main things: chewing gum, hand sanitizer and being nice to everyone,” Deacon explained.

When asked if there was a curfew that night, Deacon said he was just following his mom’s lead. I’m following her tonight, he said of his famous mom. “She’s a party animal and I’m just trying to keep up.”

Witherspoon is the mother of sons Deacon and Tennesse (11) and daughter Ava (24).

This is not the first time this week that the actress and her son have been out together. On Saturday night, Witherspoon attended the Amazon x Vanity Fair Awards Season Party with her son.

Deacon looked classically dapper as he joined his famous mum at the star-studded event in a white button-down shirt and navy blazer and trousers.

The New York University student recently spoke with PEOPLE about his burgeoning music career — one that his parents, Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, fully support.

He admitted that recording his debut album – New Earth, which was released in April 2023 — was “one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done,” as the process took place while he was in his dorm room.

“I recorded it all there with my friends, my roommates, while I was going to school,” he said of the 12-track album.

He added of making music and DJing, “I love it more than anything.”
