Death in Paradise star Ralf Little has shared some exciting news about the upcoming popular BBC detective series.
Appearing live in an Instagram Q&A interview with co-star Tahj Miles, the actor revealed that the cast has filmed the upcoming Christmas special, which will air this December.
In response to a fan’s question asking how many episodes they had filmed for the new series, Ralf replied: “Just one episode, just the Christmas special. Obviously we can’t tell you that. What happens in the series, and I mean we don’t really know, do we?

“Our prediction was as good as yours, but we’re happy about it.”
Fans were quick to express their excitement for the upcoming season in the comments section, with one person writing: “I’m really looking forward to the new series!!!” while another added: “I love this show so much. I can’t wait to see it.”

The series is set to return for seasons 13 and 14, as well as two Christmas specials.
Filming for the upcoming series began earlier this month, with the show’s official Instagram account sharing a snap of an underwater mussel with the caption, “We’re back in Guadeloupe in an hour Today is our first day of shooting for the 13th series of #DeathInParadise!”

Former star Josephine Jobert, who played DS Florence Cassell from 2015 until her departure in 2022, was quick to comment on the post, giving fans hope that she could return.

In response to some flaming emojis she commented on on the post, fans begged the actress to come back. One person wrote: “@josephinejobert_official is this a sign you’ll be back?” while another added: “@josephinejobert_official PLEASE BACK.”

Josephine has returned to the series several times and has previously been open about her decision to reprise her role. She said, “I was out of the eighth series, I thought it was going to be forever, to be honest, I thought, ‘I’m done.’ Then they asked me to be in the twelfth series. ten because I was like, ‘Hmmm, I don’t know, okay, I’ll do it.’ But I know it won’t be forever, I know. How long, I don’t know. I have an idea, but I’m not sure.”
The 38-year-old actor also talked about the possibility of appearing in the new Beyond Paradise spin-off, explaining, “It’s a possibility we discussed with the producer a while ago. So we’ll see. whether it happens or not. But I’d love to either way. It would be a very nice wink.”

As for the upcoming installment, plot details have been kept under wraps. However, executive producer Tim Key has revealed that the series will return for its 100th episode.
“We had a particularly wonderful and merry Christmas, then series 13 started with the 100th episode, so we have a lot of surprises to celebrate that milestone,” he said. in a statement about the series’ renewal. “We have big plans for the future and can’t wait to start over.”
