Deepender Singh Hooda is an Indian politician who is currently a member of the Haryana State Assembly. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and served as a member of the Rohtak Lok Sabha for three consecutive terms from 2005 to 2019. He was a special guest at the Congress Working Committee of the Executive Committee of the Indian National Congress. In 2005, at the age of 27, he entered politics and became the youngest member of Parliament. He is the fourth generation of his family to engage in public service.

Deepender Singh Hooda was born on Wednesday, January 4, 1978 in Delhi (45 years old; as of 2023). He completed his matriculation course in 1993 from Mayo College, Ajmer. He completed his high school education in 1995 from Delhi Public School, RK Puram, New Delhi. He completed his Bachelor of Technology degree from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana in 1999; he was second in his class. In 2003, he pursued an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington; he was awarded the honorary title Beta Gamma Sigma and was appointed Leader in Residence as the University’s Poling Chair in Business and Government. He served as president of the university’s Asian Students Association. He pursued his LLB degree from Delhi University Campus Law Center in 2019.

In 2014, he was re-elected to the third Lok Sabha from Rohtak and was appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy. During his 15 years in the Rohtak Lok Sabha, he helped establish many educational institutions such as the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, a state-of-the-art cancer center – AIIMS-II campus in Jhajjar, as well as many sports centres, stadiums, government schools and colleges. In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha election from Rohtak constituency on the name of the Indian National Congress, but lost to Arvind Kumar Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In 2020, he was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Haryana and was sworn in as a member of the Rajya Sabha on July 22, 2020.
From July 2020 to September 2022, he served as a member of the Personnel, Public Complaints, Law and Justice Committee; during this period he also served as a member of the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament (August 2020) and the Treasury Advisory Committee (2020 November) members. In September 2022, he became a member of the Federal Council’s External Affairs Committee, and in January 2023, he became a member of the Federal Council’s Information and Communications Technology Management Committee.
