Delhi AOI Tops The List Of Most Polluted Cities In India

Today, Delhi has entered the list of the 10 most polluted cities in India. Air quality in the national capital remains ‘very poor’, with the air quality index (AQI) as of 9:30 am at 377, the latest data from the Central Pollution Control Board showed. The city’s recent improvement from the ‘poor’ category was short-lived, as it entered the ‘very poor’ category from Friday, and the AQI has been steadily declining since then. Delhi’s air quality has been in the poor to very poor range for the past month, but after the rain on December 3, the air quality has improved. As the winter season approaches, pollution levels in the nation’s capital are rising. Different parts of Delhi recorded air quality levels in the very poor and severe categories. The worst AQI in the national capital was recorded at 430 in Wazirpur. Places with pollution levels higher than the city average include Nehru Nagar with an Air Pollution Index (AQI) of 424. Vivek Vihar has an AqI of 418. Ashok Vihar has an AQI of 409. Patparganj has 402. Okhla has 399. Sonia Vihar is at 392. ITO is at 390. Mandir Marg is at 386. And Shadipur is at 381. Other places with AqI between 300 and 377 are below the city average. For example, AqI in Jaipur is 371, Sirifort is 370, Moti Bagh is 368, Sial Aurobindo is 365, Majnu Chand National Stadium is 364, and Pusa is 354. The highest temperature in the national capital was recorded at 24.8 Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature has dropped to 6.8 Celsius as the peak of the winter season approaches. The IMD predicts mostly clear skies with mist or fog in the morning, and partly cloudy skies in the evening. The weather is expected to remain cloudy. The IMD has predicted no rain till December 19. Grap-3 restrictions in Delhi have been lifted, but the government is taking steps to ensure strict implementation of Grap-1 and Grap-2 restrictions.
