Denise Richards was really put to the test this season Special forces.
Fans saw Richards, 53, retire Special forces: the toughest test in the world after the premiere on Wednesday, January 8, and she said Entertainment Weekly there were deep-seated reasons for leaving.
According to the actress, the challenge in which she jumped off a bridge left her with a ruptured breast implant, and she said that she was already recovering from the repair of four previous hernias.
“I wanted to see the doctor and I wanted to make sure I was okay to continue with the weight and doing things,” she told EWnoting that the participants carried heavy packs of supplies at all times. “I wanted to make sure I didn’t damage the hernias. I knew about implants and it was something I knew I could still continue [with]. I was too ashamed to even say anything about them. But I wanted to see for myself that place where I had surgery before for my hernia.”

Before leaving the competition show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum said she was committed to staying despite knowing she had underlying health issues. She even considered keeping them a secret.
“I wanted to get what I really, truly could out of it,” she said. “And I was hesitant to even share that. But I thought, I just have to be honest. Otherwise, why am I here anyway? I could stay at the hotel and order room service instead. So I really wanted to be honest.”
“I’m actually really proud of myself,” Richards added. “I had the courage to jump off the bridge… I was so happy. Even though I couldn’t get on that helicopter, I was very happy. I could at least grab hold and hang from it. Never in a million years did I think I could do that.”

At the moment on the bridge, however, Richards said she realized she was in danger and that her journey could be over.
“With that harness [on the bridge jump]since it was around that area and then across our chest, we thought that was damaged as well,” she explained. “But that’s all good. I had swelling in that area, but it went down and I didn’t need another operation.”
Although everything turned out to be fine, Richards said she still wasn’t completely clear.
I still have to have surgery with my implants, she said. “I just haven’t had the down time yet. I’m hoping to do it in a few weeks. Or [replaced] or remove, whatever I choose to do. Those who are there must come out.”

Richards previously told PEOPLE that she faced opposition from her daughters for agreeing to go ahead in the first place Special forces because they thought it was too dangerous.
“My daughters were very upset,” she admitted in November. “They didn’t want me to do it. They were afraid that I would get hurt or killed, but in fact they were very angry. It was the first time in all the times I’ve been doing different projects or traveling that they were really angry with me.”
She added: “I thought, ‘This is the most challenging thing I’ll ever do, so why not do it?’ I was terrified, but once I committed to doing it, I was there.”
