Kelly Clarkson manifests collaboration with songwriter Mariah Carey!
The “Since U Been Gone” singer, 41, said she wants to take the “Hero” singer, 54, up on her offer to write a song together after accidentally missing out on the opportunity years ago.
Ahead of the season premiere of her own talk show, Clarkson appeared on Tonight’s show Friday and opened up about the accidental diss with host Jimmy Fallon.
The American Idol The alum opened by saying that the first song she ever performed in front of people was Carey’s “Vision of Love.”
“I would like to say that I was brave and daring. I was just being stupid,” Fallon, 49, said, adding: “I just love the song.”

When asked if she had ever told Carey, who she said she was a “huge fan of”, Clarkson said she hadn’t – but reflected on a different interaction she had with the singer.
“She knows I adore her because I ran into her a few times and she probably put me on some security list to keep me away,” she joked before saying she “did something stupid.”
“She came Voteand we worked together, and sometimes I say whatever’s on my mind and I shouldn’t,” Clarkson began, referring to Carey’s 2018 appearance as a consultant on the NBC competition show.

The Stronger the singer went on to say that after complimenting each other’s songwriting abilities, Carey suggested they write a song together, and Clarkson accidentally declined the offer.
“I left and my friends were like, ‘Do you realize you just told Mariah Carey ‘No?’ Clarkson told Fallon with a laugh.

She continued: “I didn’t mean that. I thought the best writing for me doesn’t come out in that scenario. I’m usually alone. Whenever you see my name on a song, I usually wrote it myself.”
“I would love to write a song with Mariah Carey,” Fallon said, and Clarkson confirmed that she would, saying, “I would love to… I love you, Mariah Carey.”

Clarkson looked back for a moment first Las Culturistas in July, telling hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers that she’s only written in the same room with other people “twice in my life because I’m just not a vulnerable writer.”
“I don’t want to sit in the room with you ma’am, you have a billion 1’s!” the “Because Of You” singer joked.

Former Vote The judge also praised Carey’s songwriting abilities, an often overlooked aspect of her art.
“I’m a big fan of being her street team in the sense that she’s one of the best writers ever,” she said. “No one talks about it! They’re always talking about songbirds, and I’m like, ‘Great, vocals for days, obviously.’ But guys, name another artist that successful who wrote everything.”
