Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Return to Dance Studio 3 Months After Her Craniectomy: ‘Beginning to Paint Again’

Hayley Erbert has entered a new chapter in her recovery journey.

The dancer (29) and her husband Derek Hough returned to the dance studio together three months after an emergency craniectomy. The moment was captured in a sweet joint Instagram post the couple shared on Wednesday.

“Together we stepped onto this blank canvas. We started painting again ❤️ @hayley.erbert,” the caption reads.

The post included a black-and-white photo of the couple, who married in August 2023, standing in the middle of a dance floor. Erbert was shown gently resting her head on Hough’s shoulder as he hugged her.

Derek Hough reflects on the ‘surreal experience’ of winning an Emmy amid wife Hayley Erbert’s hospital treatment

“I should almost rename the tour the Miracle Tour or something. Because if there’s a moment where she’s with us and joins us on stage, that’s going to be incredibly special,” Hough said. “I don’t even know how I’m going to do it [get] through it. I’m an emotional guy.”
