Derek Hough’s Wife Hayley Erbert Congratulates Him on Emmy Win After ‘Unfathomable Month’

On Sunday, Dancing with the stars judge, 38, won a Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography for a Variety or Reality Program for an ABC series. And on Tuesday, Erbert, 29, took to Instagram to share how proud she is of her husband’s success.

“What a way to be welcomed home after such an unimaginable month. @derekhough, you continue to amaze me with your drive, brilliance and commitment to excellence,” Erbert wrote. “I’ve loved being able to witness and be a part of your long journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds,” added the professional dancer. “I love you more than anything and I am so incredibly proud of you, today and always. ♥️”

Her touching caption accompanied a carousel of three photos of the couple before her recent health scare.

In December, Erbert was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma caused by a ruptured blood vessel and had to undergo emergency surgery.

As Hough accepted the Emmy — his fourth — he praised his wife for her continued strength as she recovers. – Exactly one month ago, I was in the hospital – he said in tears. “A month ago there was a moment that changed my life and reminded me that I should really appreciate and enjoy every moment.”

“I want to dedicate this to my beautiful wife,” he continued. “Your strength and courage this whole month has been incredible. You have inspired me every day.”

A month before Hough’s Emmy win, he and Erbert were on their Symphony of Dance tour when Erbert needed an emergency craniectomy after being diagnosed with a cranial hematoma caused by a ruptured blood vessel.

Shortly after the emergency surgery on December 7, Erbert underwent another surgery. Hough shared at the time that the subsequent cranioplasty to repair her skull was “successfully completed as planned.”

Despite the very difficult weather, the couple happily celebrated their first holiday together as a married couple on December 25 with a sweet Instagram post.

“We wish everyone a Merry Christmas! 🎄 We appreciate the greatest gift of all,” the couple captioned a joint post on Instagram with a photo of them kissing in front of the Christmas tree. “The precious gift of life and the love we share. Hold your loved ones close and cherish every moment. ♥️.”

The couple — who have been together since 2015 — they married in California in August after becoming engaged in June 2022.
