Paying tribute, the musician’s family said: “Our dad, Derrick McIntyre, was a proud dad, husband, brother, son, uncle, grandfather and friend.

“He had a passion for music, playing the bass guitar most of his life and blessing songs with his groovy bass line for the likes of Jamiroquai, Roy Ayers, Beverley Knight and many more.

“Dad was a great man who influenced many who came into contact with him, inspiring and encouraging him whenever he could.

“No amount of words can sum up how special our dad was to all of us – not just within our individual relationships, but as a whole.

“We will forever miss his love, humor and presence and will continue to spread his light. Until we meet again.”

Derrick was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in Bushey on February 2 on the A41 North Western Avenue.

Five vehicles were involved, including McIntyre’s bronze Vauxhall Astra. Two others were taken to hospital for further treatment.

Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with Derrick’s family and friends at this sad time.

“Our officials are continuing to determine all the circumstances of this event and we are still asking for information.

“If you were driving in the area and saw what happened, or have any dashcam footage that could assist our investigation, please contact us.”
