The beginning of spiritual life
After Devi Chitralekha was born, many famous saints and hermits came to visit her home. The saints felt that there was something special about her and began to call her a miracle child. Once, a saint said:
In the near future, she will amaze the world as a great ‘Awakened One’.”
Her parents and grandparents were all deeply into spiritual beliefs, so they often took her to various spiritual events. At the age of 4, she started participating in the “Gaudiya Vaishnavism” processions. Gaudiya Vaishnavism is a Hindu Vaishnavite religious movement inspired by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and guided by a Bengali saint named “Shri Shri Girdhari Baba”. At the age of 6, she attended a sermon by Ramesh Baba, a revered saint in Brij. Towards the end of the sermon, Ramesh Baba handed the microphone to Devi Chitralekha and asked her to say a few words. She shared her spiritual views for nearly half an hour and mesmerized everyone. This marked the beginning of her journey as a spiritual and motivational speaker.
The Journey of a Spiritual Saint and Motivational Speaker
She started reciting Kathas and Pravachans at various religious events. Her first 7-day “Shri Bhagwat Katha” was organized by her guru at Tapovan near Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. Her parents were not sure how she could deliver a speech at such a long event. They asked her guru to organize a 2-day preaching program instead of the 7-day “Shri Bhagwat Katha”. Devi Chitralekha’s guru was confident that she would be successful in delivering the 7-day “Shri Bhagwat Katha”. He said,
I wish for a successful 7-day Shri Bhagwat Katha as “Radha Mata” told me in my dream that flowers will rain down from the sky.”
Later, she organized many “Shri Bhagwat Kathas” and became one of the most popular spiritual speakers in India. Her spiritual talks were aired on many religious TV channels. Through most of her Pravacahns, she tried to spread the wave of “Radhe Krishna and Hare Krishna Mantra”.
She has produced Pravachans in India and abroad. She would recite pravachans and bhajans which were very popular. Some of her famous Bhajans were – “Mera Aapki Kripa Se”, “Krishna Krishna”, “Ek Tera Sahara”, “Jab Koi Nahi Aata”, “Lakhon Mahfil”, “Radhe Radhe”, “Gopi Geet” and “Mera” Jeevan Hai Tere Hawal.
Committed to dairy cow welfare
She founded the ‘World Sankirtana Yatra Trust’ at Palwal, Haryana on March 10, 2008. The mission of the Trust is to ‘preserve the Hindu culture and heritage of India’, ‘spread the holy name of God’, ‘spread the Bhagavad Sutras across the world’ and ‘devotion’.
Once, Devi Chitralekha saw an injured cow lying on the roadside. She immediately provided first aid to the cow. She then decided to do something for abandoned and injured cows.
