According to the band, the song “Varaha Roopam” from the movie “Kantara” is a copy of the Kannada music album “Navarasam”. The band Thaikkudam Bridge also called on listeners to spread the word about copyright infringement. Thaikkudam Bridge shared a post on Instagram about the plagiarism issue with the caption:
We want our listeners to know that Thaikkudam Bridge has no relation or form to “Kantara”. Therefore, there is unavoidable audio similarity between our IPs “Navarasam” and “Varaha Roopam” which is a blatant violation of copyright laws. From our perspective, the line between “inspiration” and “plagiarism” is clear and undisputed, and we will therefore seek legal action against the creative teams responsible for this. We do not acknowledge our rights to the content and the song is circulated as an original work by the film’s creative team (sic). ”
