Gibson stars in the prequel series, which focuses on the life of a forensic blood spray technician as he becomes an undercover serial killer and vigilante.

“When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the synopsis. “With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on the radar of law enforcement. This is a special challenge for young Dexter as he begins his forensics internship with the Miami Police Department.”

“He also hasn’t fully perfected his persona, which as a serial killer is a bit more of a conscious endeavor than the average person,” he said. “We’re going to see a version of Dexter that’s a lot rougher around the edges.”

“I think it’s been an equal challenge, and it’s also a blessing,” he said. “For me, knowing where [Dexter is] that he’s going to end was really helpful because then you can gauge who he is at this point and where he’s going.”
