Diane Kruger Celebrates New Year’s Eve with Rare Photo of Daughter Nova, 4

The Inglourious Basterds The 47-year-old actress celebrated New Year’s Eve by posting a rare photo of her 4-year-old daughter Nova Tennessee with her fiance, The walking dead star Norman Reedus.

Alongside the image, which features a swimsuit-clad Nova standing in a unicorn, Kruger wrote: “Goodbye 2023, can’t say you brought out the best in all of us.”

“For more unicorns, humanity and empathy,” she added.

Last week, Marlowe star – who is pretty secretive about her personal life – kicked off the holiday season with a sweet post on Christmas Eve.

Kruger shared a selfie with Reedus, 54, as well as a video of the actor dancing to Harry Styles’ “Late Night Talking.”

“Happy Holidays from our crazy family to yours,” she captioned the post.

Engaged since 2021, Kruger and Reedus first met on the set of the 2015 film. The skyand they started dating after Kruger divorced Joshua Jackson in 2016.

After just over a year of their relationship, the movie stars welcomed Nova – although Kruger said she didn’t always imagine having children.

“Maybe it’s what people say about women and that clock suddenly goes on. I mean, the truth is, I would have had a child with or without a man,” Caroline Stanbury revealed on the podcast Divorced are not dead in February.

Recalling how she felt in her “mid-thirties,” Kruger said, “Why am I doing all this? Why am I running around so much, trying to make money and trying to live this life? What’s it all worth?”

“I was in a very serious relationship then,” she continued. “We tried really hard to have a baby, which didn’t work out. And then, I was single, and I thought, ‘Oh, you know what? Maybe it’s easier to do it alone’.”

Then the stars aligned when she and Reedus began “casually dating” while she was already exploring becoming a mom herself.

“I mean, Nova really happened when I least expected it and needed it the most in my life,” she said on the podcast, adding that her daughter is “absolutely the best thing that’s ever happened to me, to us, to my life.”

She and Reedus keep their relationship, like New Face, a secret, but Krugar revealed the little one’s name while talking about her children’s book, A name from heavenwhich she published last fall.

In an interview with PEOPLE last May, the actress also shared how she and Reedus decided on their daughter’s name.

“I got it late in life, at the age of 42, and [Reedus] had a child when he was much younger,” she told PEOPLE. (Reedus has a son, Mingus, 24, with ex Helena Christensen.)

“Nova in Latin means a new beginning, and a new star changes and is reborn,” she continued. “And we love Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains; we ride motorcycles there.”
