News about Tammy Bruce
While speaking to a group of school-age children, Vice President Mike Pence accidentally hit one of them in the nose with his outstretched hands. The incident occurred during the appearance of military families. The “bop” was so light, in fact, that Mr. Pence didn’t even seem to notice.
On the other hand, the boy, a 10-year-old boy with autism, took notice and after Mr. Pence finished speaking, he commented, “I’m sorry, you owe me an apology.” The issue was resolved after Pence apologized and said he was sorry he didn’t notice the boy standing there. That he was meant to be.
However, Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce couldn’t let the story stand on its own, even if it included a cute video clip. She felt compelled to humiliate a small child in front of a large audience.
After watching the video, Tammy Bruce said, “I guess we’re giving birth to snowflakes now,” adding, “because it looked like that kid needed a safe space in that room,” emphasizing the child’s vulnerability. Bruce probably didn’t know the boy was autistic when she made the statement, but the words she used were horrifying. Fox News got a quick response from the young man’s mother, reminding the network that it is inappropriate to involve children in politics, regardless of whether they are autistic or come from military families.
Tammy Bruce has been criticized for expressing her own highly unfavorable views of children in the past. In a post on Philly.com, Bruce outrageously compared the experience of being a young transgender man to “thinking you’re a cocker spaniel.”
The law firm of Cohen, Placitella & Roth, PC believes enough is enough. We strongly believe that anyone who denigrates autistic children or any other disabled person on television or on public media should lose their job. This point of view includes those who criticize someone because of their skin color, religion, gender, or other protected rights and freedoms.
