Diego Maradona was born in Lans, Buenos Aires on October 30, 1960 at the Policlinico Evita Hospital. He was 60 years old when he died. He grew up in Villa Fiorito, a slum on the southern edge of Argentina’s capital. Maradona was the first son of the family, after four daughters. He is the younger of two brothers. As a child, he cited Brazilian playmaker Rivelli and Manchester United winger George Best as his idols.
