Dilshan Madushanka, also known as Lokumarakkalage Dilshan Madushanka, was born on Monday, September 18, 2000 in Hambantota, Sri Lanka (age 23; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Virgo.
He studied at Hungama Vijayaba Central College till grade 11. He developed an interest in cricket while studying in school. Talking about this in an interview, Dilshan said:
My first exposure to cricket was when I saw a group of senior students playing cricket on campus. About four or five years ago, our school organized a big match and it was after watching that match that I wanted to play cricket. “
Soon he joined the school’s cricket team. However, his school played only at the junior level as cricket was an unaffordable luxury for students. His school neither had a first team nor could afford to host a two-day cricket match. Talking about this in an interview, Dilshan said:
Even to go to competitions, kids have to chip in. We didn’t use new practice balls, we used used game balls. The whole school has about 3 pairs of pads and 3 or 4 bats, and that’s what everyone uses. “
Dilshan was captain of the school’s under-15 cricket team but later stopped playing for the school. He then started playing softball cricket and soon his pace bowling caught the attention of the mainstream softball cricket teams in his area. At the same time, he also played cricket for the district team. He attended various training camps organized by Mr Karunaratne which later helped him secure a place in the provincial team.

Dambulla Vikings signed Dilshan in October 2020 for the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League. He made his T20 debut for Dambulla Vikings in the 2020 Sri Lanka Premier League on December 9, 2020.
In August 2021, he was selected for the SLC Blues team to participate in the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League. In November 2021, Dilshan was signed by the Galle Gladiators to participate in the 2021 Sri Lanka Premier League. In September 2022, Dilshan made a good start to his international career by taking the wickets of Virat Kohli and Deepak Hooda in Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup match against India.

Dilshan Madushanka was named in Sri Lanka’s one-day international squad for the series against the West Indies in February 2021. He made his One-Day International (ODI) debut for Sri Lanka on January 10, 2023 against India in Guwahati. In the match, he took the maiden ODI wicket of Rohit Sharma.
In 2023, his contribution to Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup qualifiers helped the team qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the qualifying matches against Zimbabwe and the Netherlands, he took 3 wickets each. On November 2, 2023, in the World Cup match between Sri Lanka and India, Dilshan scored his first five goals for Sri Lanka against India. He became the fourth Sri Lankan cricketer to bowl a batsman in the tournament after Ashanta Demel, Charminda Wass and Rath Malinga.
