James Roday is an American actor best known for his role as Shawn Spencer on the USA Network television series Psych (2006–2014) and its spinoffs. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he was born on April 4, 1976. He attended Taft High School in Texas.
Later, the Psycho star earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree after studying theater at New York University’s Experimental Theater Wing. During his studies, Roday was the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the band Dogberry. He even recorded the band’s single, 24 Hours, with his bandmate as a tribute to ‘The Sundays’.
He started his acting career as a result of his passion and interest in the performing arts. He first appeared in plays such as Three Sisters, A Distinguished Wedding and Severity’s Mistress.
