Dinesh Phadnis (1966-2023) was an Indian actor and writer, working primarily in the Hindi film and television industry. He is best known for playing Detective Fredricks aka Detective Freddy in the television series CID which aired on Sony Entertainment Television. He died of multiple organ failure on December 5, 2023.

Dinesh Phadnis passed away due to multiple organ failure at around 12 am on December 5, 2023, at Tunga Hospital, Mumbai. His last rites were performed on December 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Mumbai. On December 4, 2023, Dinesh Phadnis was admitted to Tunga Hospital in Mumbai, where he was treated for liver damage and put on a ventilator. According to some reports, he suffered a heart attack. However, Dayanand Shetty (his co-star in CID) denied the rumors of Dinesh Padnis having suffered a heart attack and revealed that he is on a ventilator and undergoing treatment.
