It is reported that on June 9, 2020, she committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of her fiance’s apartment in Jankalyan Nagar, Malad West. She was declared dead at a local hospital in Borivali, Mumbai. According to reports, she had been struggling with depression for a long time. On June 8, 2020, she was with her fiance Rohan Rai and several other friends. Her time of death was reported as 2:25 am. Jagdev Kalapad, a senior police officer of Malwani Police Station, said in an interview,
There were six friends at the time. They were drinking after dinner. Disha Salian, who was also a little drunk, went to the window of the apartment and fell from it around 1 am on Tuesday.”

However, according to some other media reports, it was an accidental death and not a suicide. According to reports, her relationship with her fiancé Rohan Rai was not harmonious. She had a quarrel with Rohan and locked herself in the bathroom on the day of her death. After the quarrel, she got drunk and fell from the 14th floor of Rohan’s apartment.
Bollywood actor Suraj Pancholi was reportedly responsible for her death and she was said to be pregnant with Suraj’s child. Later, Suraj cleared the whole matter and said,
I don’t even know Disha. I have never met her in my life. I only got to know about her after she passed away and later Sushant passed away, also through social media. I never interacted with her and didn’t even know what she looked like.”
Just days after her death, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. Initially, it was said that Sushant had committed suicide, but the investigation entered a different phase after Sushant’s father filed a case against Rhea Chakraborty. During the investigation in Sushant’s case, various media outlets talked about Disha Salian’s suicide and claimed that Disha’s suicide case was connected to Sushant’s case. In September 2020, Disha’s death case was reopened and the CBI started investigating her case; to find out whether it was suicide or murder and to find out the link between Disha and Sushant’s death case.

- Her fiancé Rohan Rai recounted the tragic night Disha committed suicide in November 2022, nearly two years after her death. He also spoke about her pregnancy rumours and her relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput. Rohan said that Disha had “mixed” her drink that night and everything happened so fast that they had no idea what was going on. He said,
We were drinking with four friends for two or three days. Disha mixed drinks that she shouldn’t have because it had a bad effect on her in the past. Her last call was to her schoolmate in London. Everything happened within five minutes. I took Disha’s phone to talk to her friend while she went to the master bedroom. After a few minutes, I knocked on the door but no one responded. As the door was not locked, I opened it and saw some alcohol spilled on the bed. I thought she was in the bathroom changing clothes and went back. After a few minutes, a friend and I knocked on the door again. No one responded and I rushed into the bathroom but she was not there. We searched the entire apartment and started to get worried. We entered the master bedroom again and started checking the wardrobe. At this point, all of us were in a state of panic. That’s when I noticed that the window of the master bedroom was open. When I looked down from there, I recognized her nightgown lying on the floor for the first time. I was shocked and asked my friend, “ baby?I went into denial and started slapping myself. It felt like a nightmare. Then I stood on the railings, thinking I would jump too. My friends pulled me back. Soon, the police came too. They made me take off my clothes and checked my body for signs of a fight and searched the house. Some of our friends rushed Disha to the hospital. The first two hospitals refused admission and the third one that agreed to admit her declared her dead on arrival. ?
