Disney Just Quietly Dropped First Look Inside Rethemed Splash Mountain Ahead of Reopening as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney has revealed the first look inside the new Tiana Bayou Adventures ride!

A YouTube video shared by Walt Disney Imagineering on Wednesday, May 29, dives into how music is created for Disney attractions and includes a peek at the attraction inspired by the 2009 animated film. The princess and the frog.

The ride, which will open next month at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in place of Splash Mountain, will feature original music as well as tunes from the film.

In the video, musician PJ Morton and Tricia Holloway, global music executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, go on a ride and are transported to vibrant New Orleans.

Exciting clips of the much-anticipated attraction were shown in footage from the start of their ride as they took their seats in the famous log flume. As the log moves up the hill, an animatronic Tiana-like figure greets riders wearing a white chef’s jacket, gray pants and a multi-colored tie. She appears to be in the kitchen surrounded by spices and a blackboard menu.

Next, riders continue through a dimly lit cave filled with colorful bushes and large trees. There is bright blue lighting on the walls. As they travel further into the ride, the same animatronic reappears in the wooded background. This time he has a research hat and a portable flashlight.

Another sequence on the ride features dancing bears and brightly colored lights. The scene then cuts to a backdrop covered in giant colorful mushrooms and screens showing videos of Tiana as a child.

In the fantasy area, more characters are gathered on the deck and around the town, which is decorated with pink and purple hanging lanterns and bright fairy lights. One side shows a stained-glass gazebo under a large tree.

Disney announced on May 12 that the ride will open on Friday, June 28, at the Florida theme park.

“You’ll join Princess Tiana on an adventure across the bay as she prepares to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during the Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome,” said Sarah Riles, Magic Kingdom Park Vice President. new ride. “Along the way, you’ll see some familiar faces, make new friends, and travel across the bay to the next chapter of Tiana’s story.”

She also revealed that the ride will include a “thrilling” 50-foot drop.

The attraction’s opening date comes nearly four years after the company first announced that Splash Mountain would be reimagined with a new theme at Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.

In June 2023, fans saw a tiara-topped water tower pop up overnight at the Florida theme park, confirmed as the “centerpiece” of the ride in a Disney Parks Instagram post.

The attraction does not yet have a confirmed opening date in California, although the website says it will come to Disneyland Park in 2024.
