Disney Will Disperse Beignet Smells into the Line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney thought of everything for the new The princess and the frog driving.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which officially opens Friday, June 28 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, will take riders on a trip to New Orleans, even down to the smell of beignets, a Disney representative confirmed to PEOPLE.

Guests will get a whiff of fried dough treats as they line up for the attraction.

Disney’s deliberate use of scent is nothing new. Smellitzers, Disney’s term for scent sprayers, are strategically placed on the park’s streets and rides, according to Business Insider. The Haunted Mansion ride intentionally smells like dust from hidden vents in the attraction.

The smell of beignets (a New Orleans staple) aren’t the only Louisiana references included in the ride, of course.

“You’ll join Princess Tiana on an adventure across the bay as she prepares to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during the Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome,” Magic Kingdom Park Vice President Sarah Riles said of the new ride.

What will Disneyland build first now that its $1.9 billion expansion plan has been approved?

Princess Tiana will be front and center, but the ride includes other notable characters from The princess and the frog like Prince Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis. The newly re-themed ride, formerly Splash Mountain, will feature the iconic 50-foot ride and “original music and some familiar tunes from the beloved movie.”

Guests at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will be able to enjoy the ride in June — but it won’t open at Disneyland in Anaheim, California until later in 2024.
