Disney's Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Reveals First Glimpse: 'Experiment 626 Has Entered the Chat'

Lilo & Stitch’the fluffy blue alien comes to life.

At the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California on August 9, Disney revealed the first look at the character designs of Stitch from the upcoming live-action reimagining Lilo & Stitch.

The revelation is coming 22 years after the 2002 animated film, which follows an alien who crashes in Hawaii and finds a new human family.

“Experiment 626 has entered the chat! #LiloAndStitch live action is coming to theaters only in summer 2025!” read the message on the Instagram page of the Walt Disney studio.

Newcomer Maia Kealoha portrays Lilo, the human title character, in the film; Kealoha made her big red carpet debut at the Gold Gala on May 11, where she presented an award to first responders battling the devastating 2023 Maui wildfires.

“When I found out I was going to be Lilo, my jaw literally dropped and I couldn’t believe it,” Kealoha told PEOPLE at the time. “I called my dad and I said, ‘I made it! I’m Lilo! I’m Lilo!’ And then they grabbed me and we were jumping up and down, I was so excited!”

The Hollywood Reporter it was previously announced that Zach Galifianakis will star in the film, while another newcomer, Kahiau Machado, will play David Kawena. Sydney Elizebeth Agudong will play Lil’s older sister Nani.

In April 2023, Deadline reported that Billy Magnussen and Courtney B. Vance would also be in the Dean Fleischer Camp-directed film (Marcel shell in shoes).
