DJ Khaled Credits Golf for Weight Loss Transformation: 'I Do It Every Day'

“There is so much [more] pleasant, which means [being around] nature, sun. It cleans me,” the Grammy winner said of the game

DJ Khaled says incorporating golf into his life is a “no-brainer” when it comes to weight loss.

While promoting his Ryder Cup partnership in an interview he released Us Weekly on Wednesday, Khaled admitted that golf has helped him focus and maintain his overall health.

He told the outlet that his current weight is 263 pounds, and that he is over 20 pounds lighter thanks to the sport.

The Grammy winner also opened up about his daily routine. “[I] wake up in the morning, pray, kiss my children [and] my wife,” he said. After a “light breakfast”, he usually dresses in his golf gear and heads to the golf course.

“I do it every day and I get to sit on a golf cart or walk around to answer an email or a call and run my business,” said the “GOD DID” artist, 47. “There’s so much [more] pleasant, which means [being around] nature, sun. It cleanses me.”

His best comparison to the feeling he gets while playing golf is that “it’s almost like going into the ocean without actually going into the ocean.”

DJ Khaled says he’s ‘living proof that dreams do come true’ as his family joins him at the 2023 Grammys.

While speaking with the outlet, Khaled also explained how his hobby helps him create “priceless” bonding moments with his family.

“My two sons, they love golf – Asahd and Aalam – they’re 6 and 3 and they love golf,” Khaled said of his sons, who he shares with wife Nicole Tuck. “When they’re not at school on weekends or holidays, they go golfing with dad. And it’s a wonderful thing to be able to play golf with my guys and just kick it.”

DJ Khaled’s 2 Kids: Everything you need to know

“Forget what I like to do. I like to see what he likes to do and I support my kids in whatever they want to do,” Khaled shared. “And the nice thing is that we love each other. We like some of the same things. Like father, like son. I like golf. They like golf. I like to play basketball. They like to play basketball. I like to go to the studio. They like to go to studio. I guess that’s it. It’s in the DNA.”

At the time, the “POPSTAR” hitmaker said he lost 15 pounds by playing golf regularly.

“Some people go to yoga, some people go to the gym. And I love everybody’s choices,” Khaled told PEOPLE. “Because I went to yoga, I went to the gym, but I play golf and I’m doing well. I love the game and I love what it does for me to move my body. I’m more flexible. Even I didn’t go into golf thinking that I’m trying to work off the weights. It just happened naturally.”

Khaled loves the sport so much that he held his inaugural We the Best Foundation Golf Classic in Miami in July.

Some of those who came out to support the event included Larsa Pippen and boyfriend Marcus Jordan, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Bun B.
