It’s almost Halloween for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis!
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children are currently enjoying their autumn school holidays in Lambrook, giving the family extra time to make memories this season. The trio will also be out of school on a kid-favorite holiday — Halloween.
While The great British magician reports that trick-or-treating isn’t as popular in the U.K. as it is in the United States (according to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 72 million children in America knock on doors asking for candy each year), Princess Kate previously took Prince George, 11 , Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, trick or treat.
The photo he posted Hello! In 2023, he filmed the royal mum standing outside her neighbour’s door in London with her children, joining a classic Halloween tradition. Although the picture was taken from afar, making it hard to tell what costumes the children were wearing, Princess Kate was seen holding a bag – perhaps to collect all her Halloween treats!

“For anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are… This is Kate with her kids knocking on our doors in London trick or treating for Halloween,” neighbor Jay Rutland wrote over the photo, Hello! reported. Rutland is married to British heiress Tamara Ecclestone, and the couple live in the same area as Kensington Palace, where William and Kate were previously full-time.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 42, made a significant move to Windsor in 2022, settling in Adelaide Cottage and enrolling their children at Lambrook. The new chapter was full of firsts, from the first life apart from Nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo and the first time George, Charlotte and Louis attended the same school.
A palace insider previously told PEOPLE that Prince William likes the “normal” routine that Princess Kate maintains for their children, which stems from a larger philosophy of making their childhoods as normal as possible.
“Those kids seem pretty happy with life,” the insider said. “A lot of it comes from the stabilizing normalcy that Kate brings – and that’s how she grew up. William absolutely loves it.”

It seems that trick-and-treating is also a Middleton family tradition. Princess Kate’s mom, Carole Middleton, previously spoke on social media about her favorite part of the season
“Halloween is the pinnacle of fall for me,” Carole wrote on the Party Pieces Instagram account in 2022, the year before she sold the party equipment business she started. “I still remember the fun and scares of my own childhood; the opportunity to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick or treating!”
Sharing the sweet way she planned to celebrate the year, she continued: “I even grew my own pumpkins this year, so I’m looking forward to decorating them with my loved ones.”

As George, Charlotte and Louis grow up to be royalty, their Halloween costumes might as well be just like everyone else’s. In 2019, Princess Kate was spotted shopping for Halloween costumes with her two older children at a supermarket in Norfolk. Local resident Kathy Whittaker spotted the royal mum browsing the lounge section.
“I didn’t see what she actually bought. The lady who told me she was there had kids with her and she said Kate asked her kids what they were going to be for Halloween,” Whittaker said, according to several British newspapers. “I think she bought her kids bits and pieces for Halloween, but I don’t know what.”
Kate shared a rare glimpse into her family life in a Sept. 9 video message she posted to announce she had completed cancer chemotherapy. The clip shows Kate and William hugging and playing with their young children outdoors.
“The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we had to find a way to navigate stormy waters and an unknown road,” Kate said in a video message.
“This time above all else has reminded William and I to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that many of us often take for granted. Simply loving and being loved,” she added.
