When it comes to the best way to clean your teeth, is it really worth throwing out a large dollar for an electric toothbrush-or is the handmade style of old school enough to keep the cavities in a bend?
“It really depends on the person,” says Dr. Anne Clemons, a dentist from Cleveland Clinic, People. “For many people, an electric brush can ease a better job. And there are certainly some people where the skill is a problem or it is difficult for them to use a handbook, and an electric brush has a real benefit.”
“Some believe that a tooth toothbrush is more fun and comfortable to use, perhaps motivating,” Clemons adds, explaining, however, that at the end of the day it is just a “useful tool, part of the tool.”
“What we try to do is reach every surface of each tooth to remove this rather soft – and honestly, rather easily removed plaque – which is on the teeth,” the dentist continues. “It’s just a matter of spending time and being thoughtful to actually hit each tooth surface.”

According to Clemons, it is a common misconception that the force must be used when washing the tooth.
“People tend to quickly and not intentionally not intentionally, and they just purify everything around them and spend some time around their mouths, but they can miss the whole parts of the tooth,” she says, explaining that she can leave a plaque behind.
“You can greatly do the job of washing all teeth in two minutes,” Clemons continues.

And regardless of whether it is an electric or manual toothbrush, he adds: “It’s not just a brush in the mouth for two minutes. It’s really deliberate.”
“That electric brush will do a lot of work for you, but you have to put it in the right place,” Clemons further says, describing in detail that the electric toothbrush should be tilted “45 degrees toward the tire” instead of holding it vertically on the tooth.

Clemons tells people that she saw that patients were successfully crossing from hand toothbrushes to electric teeth.
“Using it really well and thoughtfully, it can have a big impact,” she says. “They really saw a big difference in how clean their mouths are and how their gums react.”
But no matter how much a toothbrush is, it will not take a place for Floss, Clemons adds.
“I know I have a good technique of toothbrush, [but] I can’t clean between a tooth tooth brush. So, if you do not shout or use another appropriate method for cleansing between the teeth, there is the whole surface you miss where the plaque remains, so bacteria and food, potentially, remain between the teeth and under the tire, “she said.
“Unfortunately, there is no replacement for cleaning each tooth surface – and that includes between,” adds a specialist.
