Larry Tambly died, musician and founding band Standells. He was 82 years old.
His nephew, Dennis Tamblyn, announced that he died on Friday, March 21, in a Facebook post.
“My uncle Larry Tamblyn has passed away today. Over the years I love memories of him and his family,” Dennis wrote. “He lived an incredible life. He was in a band called The Standells, whose hit song ‘Dirty Water’ is still playing to this day whenever Red Sox or Bruins win in a home game. Munsters“, He continued.
“A few years ago, Standells played at a hotel congress here in Tucson in Ariz, and Larry stayed with me,” Dennis added. “It was so great to hang out with him and make up for him. He was still making music in later years. You will be missed by Uncle Larry.”
Currently, the cause of death is not divided.

Larry, who was born in Los Angeles, comes from a famous family as the brother of actor Russ Tamblyn and actress Amber Tamblyn. He worked as a solo musician in the 1950s before forming a rock band Larry Tambly and Standells in 1962, with Tony Valentine, Jody Rich and Benny King.
The band recorded its first 45 “You will be a mine one day/a girl in my heart” 1963, according to a technological web sound, before signing with Liberty Label a year later and changed his name to Standells.
After several departures of the band members, Dick Dodd joined as a leading vocals in 1964. The group has released several popular songs, including “Try It”, “Can Can Can Aw Love You” and their biggest hit, “Dirty Water”, which reached number 11 on the Billboard ladder.

Larry reformed the band in 2009, and the group launched on its first national tour since the 1960s, according to the Metro in the UK. The band released their last album Bump in 2013.
In December 2023, Larry was introduced to the California music hall of the celebrity by his brother Russ, 90. The late singer shared a video on his Facebook page performing on stage during his induction ceremony.
Larry’s neighbor wrote on X after news of his death, “My friend and neighbor, Larry Tamblyn, passed away this morning … It was completely surreal that a member of the 1960s garage band, my 80s Garage band, moved immediately behind me in Rural Ga.”
