A FASCINATING viral experiment has sparked a debate online with people left confused as to whether they see blue or green.

A clever online test challenged the public’s ability to identify color with neuroscientists proving that everyone sees things differently.

People flock to the popular website ismy.blue to clarify their discoveries in the color puzzle.

A series of screens pop up one after the other with the game’s goal being to simply tell if they are green or blue.

All colors fit into a similar spectrum and each time vary slightly in shade, so it is increasingly difficult to give a decisive vote.

After people complete the test, a gradient graph is displayed that determines how you recognize the color.

It pits you against other users to see where you fit in the population.

The results are cleverly placed in a much wider block that goes from clear green to dark blue.

It then shows you at what point on the color spectrum your brain officially switches from green to blue.

A shade line is placed along the chart more to the left or right showing where you sit.

It then compares this to the average person and says whether you see the color turquoise more like blue or green.

More than a million people have taken the test since it was first published online in August, and the average shade score was 175.

The results varied greatly depending on the time of day the test was administered, which reportedly affected the results.

Site creator and neuroscience and artificial intelligence researcher Patrick Mineault said: “The validity of the conclusion is limited by your monitor’s calibration, ambient lighting and filters such as night mode.

“Despite these limitations, the results should have good test-retest reliability on the same device, in the same ambient light, which you can verify by taking the test multiple times.

“If you want to compare your results with friends, use the same device in the same ambient light.

“Getting outstanding results doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with your vision. It could mean you have an idiosyncratic way of naming colors, or that your monitor and lighting are unusual.”
