A dog from South Carolina was rescued after sneaking into a surprising space!
According to a Facebook post by the Sumter Police Department — which worked with the Sumter Fire Department to rescue the pet — Spike ended up in a home dryer vent on Nov. 30.
Members of the fire and police units arrived at the scene to get the dog out of a tight situation. “Spike was smelling mischief when he got stuck in a dryer vent at a Warren Court home earlier today,” the Sumter Police Department said.
The two departments worked together to break down the exterior wall of the home to rescue Spike from the opening, WLTX-TV reported. As Spike patiently waited for emergency services to arrive, he hung his head out in the open while his body remained in the vent.
The teams were able to get Spike out after widening the dryer vent and pulling the pet back into the house, Fox News reported.

“[Spike was] probably wanting to see what else he can get into for today,” the police department’s statement concluded.

It took just over an hour to remove Spike from the small space, according to the dog’s owner’s grandmother.
She commented on the Facebook post and gave an update for curious minds. “I’m grateful for the time and care of the police and firefighters to rescue Spike, it took me just over an hour I’m glad I was home while Kam was at school.”
“A job well done,” added Grandma.
Photos from the Sumter Police Department show the dog sitting with its head in a small hole outside the home as it patiently waits to be removed from the enclosure.
Additionally, photos of Spike and rescue teams working together to remove him were posted on Facebook.
