Dolly Parton Wears Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Uniform as She Performs Her Hits During Thanksgiving Game Halftime

Thanksgiving is a little more rock ‘n’ roll this year — thanks to Dolly Parton.

Just after the release of her new album Rock starthe country superstar took the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Commanders.

For the high-energy performance, the legendary singer wore a version of the Cowboys’ cheerleader uniform, featuring a white vest with blue stars, a blue crop top that revealed her chest, and white shorts. While the outfit looked bare, her stomach was actually covered in a completely bedazzled mesh. A crystal star was above Parton’s belly button, and more crystals were sprinkled throughout the tights she was wearing.

Parton opened the halftime performance with her favorite song “Jolene” and later moved on to another classic, “9 to 5.” She also performed her cover of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”

Parton was announced as the halftime player at this year’s Thanksgiving game last month and called the partnership with The Salvation Army an “honor” in a press release.

“Those red teapots have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors facing hard times,” she said at the time. “My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”

Ahead of the album’s release, Parton released her version of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” — a duet with the 30-year-old pop star, who is also her godson — and talked about the song in an Instagram video.

“I remember the first time I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ it hit me the same way I did when I first heard Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You,'” Parton said in the clip. “I was driving, heard it and almost crashed. And when I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ I almost broke again. I thought when that chorus started, ‘He hit me like a wrecking ball,’ I thought, ‘Well, how great can a song get?'”

Cyrus then shared her gratitude for the collaboration on Instagram. “I grew up listening to my aunt Dollys music and it’s an honor to hear her sing one of my songs,” she captioned a photo of herself on stage with her godmother.

She continued: “I love you Aunt Dolly! So happy to add another collab under our shiny (leather) belt! We are now ROCKSTARS! You can hear so much sweetness and love on this record. Excited to share it with everyone. Forever your Doll, Miley.”
