Dolores Catania Teases New Season of RHONJ Is ‘Unpredictable’ and Features a ‘Real Shift in Friends’ (Exclusive)

Dolores Catania reveals secrets about the upcoming season The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the Global Lyme Alliance GLA Gala on Thursday, the reality star said fans shouldn’t expect the group’s previous friendships to remain intact when the Bravo show returns for a 14th season.

“You’ll see a change in your friends that you wouldn’t expect,” Catania teased on the red carpet at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. “Like, that’s the biggest thing — a real change in friends.”

Fans may already be able to piece together some of those changes. Sisters-in-law Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga ended last season feuding, with Giudice saying she would never speak to Gorga again. And PEOPLE confirmed last month that former friends Jennifer Aydin and Danielle Cabral got into an explosive fight that turned physical, resulting in both being suspended.

Friend of the show Jackie Goldschneider also revealed during the visit Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month that she and once-close ally Margaret Josephs had fallen out.

But Catania told PEOPLE it’s more than that. “Of course, there are obvious ones that we know about, but there’s been this kind of confusion, I want to call it,” she says.

“There are rumors that a lot has happened this season and a lot of things have happened! It’s unpredictable,” Catania added. “You’re going to love it. What can I say? You’re going to love it. It’s killing us, but you’re going to love it! You sure have something to look forward to.”

The filming of this season is still going on RHONJ, although it is expected to end soon. The official premiere date has not yet been announced.

Cameras followed Catania’s relationship with boyfriend Paul “Paulie” Connell. The two made their relationship official on Instagram on Valentine’s Day 2022, and he began appearing on RHONJ last season. Viewers will see more of him in the 14th season.

“He filmed a lot with me,” Catania told PEOPLE. “He’s a great guy, but also a really good friend. He’s dealing with this life pretty well.”

“It’s not easy to have your relationship everywhere!” Catania admitted. “But it’s fun for him. He’s having fun. I said, ‘Oh, are you having fun at this party where God knows what just happened?'”

As for the Global Lyme Alliance GLA Gala, Catania said she has been coming to the event for years and loves supporting the cause. “Lyme doesn’t discriminate between young and old. And it affects people all over the world,” she explained. “There are often misdiagnoses. And many doctors reject them, telling them it’s in their head and it doesn’t show up in blood tests. So people often lose hope, they suffer so much.”

“My heart goes out to people with Lyme,” she added. “I just want them to understand that they never give up – never give up hope, never give up faith. And you’re not alone.”
