Dwayne Johnson Says His Childhood Holidays on the Move Made Him Want ‘Stability’ for His Daughters’ Christmases

Dwayne Johnson is committed to keeping Christmas traditions alive for his daughters.

The Black Adam star, 51, revealed that when it comes to celebrating the holidays, he tries to make sure his daughters have some “stability” by ensuring his family spends Christmas at home – something he himself didn’t always have growing up.

“[My family] moving around all the time,” Johnson recalled to reporters at the Mana Holiday House party for the actor’s Teremana tequila brand. “… So our tradition was really just Christmas wherever we were.”

“Sometimes it was a small tree, like a small tree, and sometimes it was a little bigger tree. And I’m an only child, so it was a small family, a small group,” he continued. “So our tradition was just to be together on Christmas.”

Besides passing on the tradition of spending the holidays together to his daughters – Simone (22), Jasmine (8) and Tiana (5) – he also added a new routine to make Christmas even more special for the girls.

“What I’m trying to do is have some semblance of stability with my daughters and my family,” the actor explained. “So on Christmas Eve the little ones try their best to stay up as long as they can, so usually around 11:00 or 11:30.”

He continued: “Finally they fall asleep, and then Santa comes. And then when Santa comes, it’s a whole process of several hours. This is now our tradition: to wake up and experience Christmas and the holidays through the girls.”

Johnson — who shares daughter Simone with ex-wife Dany Garcia and daughters Tiana and Jasmine with wife Lauren Hashian — noted at the same event that he works hard to balance his work and home life in order to have more time for his daughters.

“I think I’ve come to a point in my life where I can create my own schedule, which has been really nice, because it wasn’t always like that, and I’m really happy,” he said.

“And I think in the spirit of creating my own schedule, it allows me to get closer to the girls and where they’re around every corner, they’re with me,” he added.

Being a baby girl’s dad is very important to the star, who previously told PEOPLE in 2021 that his daughters have allowed him to become “softer and gentler,” and in turn, he and his wife have raised the girls to believe the sky’s the limit.

“Lauren and I like to raise them in an environment and a culture where life has no limits. You can do anything you want and you can achieve anything you want,” he said. “However, I need you to be flexible about how we go about it.”
