Donal Logue was born in the Canadian province of Ontario. His parents were Irish, and their occupation required them to move. As a result, Donal spent his childhood in Canada, Boston and other places before settling in California. Karina, Eileen and Deirdre were Logue’s three sisters. Logue was accepted to Central Union High School in California. There he became interested in theater. He also founded the Imperial Valley Players, a theater troupe that performs in the school auditorium.

Logue also attended St. Ignatius College, a Jesuit school in London, England. In 1983, he was elected president of the 37th session of the Boys’ Nation of the American Legion. During college he appeared in more than 30 plays, spent a long time with the American repertory theater Harvard/Radcliffe Summer Stock Company, and spent a short time in England doing theater.
