Dorinda Medley Plans to Sell Blue Stone Manor One Day: ‘I Don’t See Myself There Forever’ (Exclusive)

Dorinda Medley says she eventually plans to say goodbye to her iconic Berkshires home, Blue Stone Manor.

In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE promoting her appearance on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy, now airing on Peacock, the 59-year-old reality star talks about how she will one day leave her beloved Massachusetts abode. “I never thought I’d keep Blue Stone Manor this long,” admits Medley. “After [my late husband] Richard passed, I was confident that I would sell it. My mother said: ‘Wait a year! Don’t do anything when you’re in this state.’ So I really thought I’d get rid of him, because to me, Blue Stone Manor was something I bought with Richard and a place where Richard could retire. I never thought I would live here alone. I just didn’t see a place for it in my everyday life after his death.”

However, Medley says it’s a real blessing to see her home “take on an amazing life now, 11 years later since Richard is gone.”

“I think, Architectural Digest he just named it one of the ’12 houses that are as legendary as their famous owners’ — which I was thrilled about — and we sold out tickets to fans wanting to visit it in just 3 minutes,” he adds. “Bravo viewers really are just that accepted thanks RHONY and RHUGT. It really is the ‘Disneyland Housewife’. “Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

When the time finally comes, Medley says she’ll be happy to part with her home after years of ownership.

“I’m not someone who will hold on to anything for too long. I believe in transitions, I believe in pivots and I believe that we are not our property,” she says. “And you understand that [my daughter] Hannah loves it, but doesn’t come that often. And as my parents get older, I say to myself, ‘Do I see myself at 70, walking around 18 acres and 11,000 square feet?’ That’s a lot.”

“I love it, but it’s a lot to keep the house the way I want it, so I don’t see myself there forever,” Medley continues. “Maybe one day I’ll see you on the beach in the apartment. Doesn’t that sound easier?”

The Bravo star adds, “But you can never say I didn’t pull everything out of that house and do it proud. I mean, I have Blue Stone Manor bourbon, Blue Stone Manor maple syrup, Blue Stone Manor merchandise, now events — so I really did it all .”

Although she still calls Blue Stone Manor her home, Medley tells PEOPLE she loves decorating it for the holidays, even if she got a delayed start this year.

“I didn’t put up my Christmas decorations at Blue Stone Manor as early as I usually do this year. I didn’t put them up until the second weekend in December,” she says. “Can you imagine? That’s a disappointment.”
