Tuesday, June 18 episode Duplication with the Derricos, Karen suffered an emergency health scare during a family vacation on the slopes. After collapsing to the ground, she revealed she had an irregular heartbeat and felt “faint”.

Her vital signs were normal when paramedics arrived and described her fainting as altitude sickness and dehydration. With the whole family still reeling from Karen’s collapse, her husband Deon organized a private dinner where they pondered the terrifying possibility of what might have been.

“I didn’t see we were here now. It was so hard,” Deon said of the EMS as Karen became emotional.

Speaking on camera, the matriarch of the Derricos family admitted that she “didn’t know what was going on” until she saw the “concerned” faces of her loved one. Although she felt disoriented, she knew one thing for sure: “I have to be good for my children.”

“My thing is honey, think about how today went, all this other crap doesn’t matter,” Deon continued. “The stress in the house, the paint, the floors, wanting Darian to go to college, none of that mattered when you were on that court today.”

“We just need our family and our health,” he said when Karen agreed. “[When] we’re coming back home, you know, we’re coming back to a home that has all these challenges and problems. But that is our reality, no matter what we can go through. I can’t do this without you.”
