Did Iran fire him before the World Cup?

According to reports, Skočić was sacked by Iran five months before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, despite leading the national team to the championship. Skočić took over as head coach in February 2020, winning 15 of his first 18 games but losing two of his last three.

His upbringing and early career

Skočić was born in the Croatian city of Rijeka. In 1987, he started his playing career as a midfielder for Rijeka. He played for Novalja from 2001 to 2004, and retired in 2004 after a short stay at Al-Ittihad.

So far in his coaching career

After retiring as a player, Skočić graduated from the HNS Football Academy and the Coach Training Department at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb. He became the manager of his local club Rijeka in 2005 after obtaining a UEFA-PRO coaching diploma and a professional bachelor’s degree in the coaching profession, and led the team to the Croatian Cup in the 2005-06 season.

In 2007, he took over as head coach of Interblock Ljubljana and led the team out of a difficult league scenario helping the club stay in the first division. Not only that, but he led the team to two titles. The team won the Cup of Slovenia and the Supercup in 2007-08. In the 2009/10 season. he took over as head coach of Al-Arabi club, leading it to the finals of the Crown Prince Cup and the Federation Cup. After a short stint at Al Nassr Football Club in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he returned to his local club.

However, after just 43 days, he was sacked due to a series of poor performances, after which he took over Malavan on a two-year contract. Under his leadership, the team achieved the highest league result since 2005. He worked for Foolad from 2014 to 2016, Khooneh is Khooneh in 2018, Sanat Naft in 2019, and Iran in 2020.

He is married and has wonderful children

Skočić is married to Majda Skočić, a wonderful woman. On June 6, 2016, the couple exchanged wedding vows in a stunning wedding ceremony. In 2018, they had their first child, Ana. Skočić is the father of three children. He has a son, Luka, and a daughter, Nika, from a previous relationship. His son Luka was born in 1996 and his daughter in 2000.
