Drake, 36, Defends His Friendship with Millie Bobby Brown, 19, in New Song Lyrics

After years of facing criticism for his friendship with teenage actress Millie Bobby Brown, it seems Drake has finally addressed his critics.

The rapper, 36, verified the name Stranger Things star, 19, in the lyrics to her new song “Another Late Night” in what appears to be a diss towards those who question their friendship, which dates back to 2017.

“Freaks in my comments talking about some Millie Bobby, look/Bring them jokes to the gang, we’re really gonna get together,” he says on the song. “Or send your mom a finger in some FedEx boxes/Open that s—, jaw dropping, really shocking.'”

The song on his new album For all dogsit comes six years after Drake and Brown first met in November 2017 backstage at one of the rapper’s concerts in Australia.

Months after they met, Brown, who was 14 at the time, revealed that Drake had extended an invitation to the show and that the two were “talking all the time.”

“I’m looking for his advice,” said the star – who is now engaged to Jon Bon Jovi’s son, Jake Bongiovi W magazine.

In September 2018, he offered further insight into their friendship, saying Access to Hollywood that the star – himself a former child actor – is “so fantastic and a great friend and a great role model.”

“We were just texting the other day and he said, ‘I miss you so much.’ I thought, ‘I miss you even more!'” she said. “He’s coming to Atlanta so I’ll definitely go see him. I am so excited. As for the boy, he helps me. He’s great, he’s wonderful. I love him.”

The interview, in which Brown revealed that Drake was giving her dating advice, came under fire due to the 17-year age gap between the two, and shortly after, the actress appeared to respond to the criticism in several statements she shared on her Instagram Story, according to the screenshots he posted Cosmopolitan.

“Why do you have to make a nice friendship, your title? You guys are weird… Really. I am happy that people in the business are extending their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance,” she wrote. “I am very blessed to have amazing people in my life. You can’t choose it for me. It’s nice that people understand what I do. Now let’s get back to talking about the real problems in this world, other than my friendships… Jesus.”

Meanwhile, Drake revealed on Friday that he is post-release For all dogsplans to take a short hiatus from music to focus on his health, namely this undisclosed stomach problem.

“I probably won’t make music for a while. I’ll be honest,” he said on his show A table for one on SiriusXM’s Sound 42. “I have some other things to do for some other people that I promised, but I probably won’t be making music for a while. I’ll be honest with you. I have to focus on my health first and I will soon.”

He continued, “I’ve got to sort myself out. I’ve got a lot of other things I’d like to focus on. So I’m going to lock the studio door for a little while. I don’t know how much. Maybe, maybe a year or so, or maybe a little longer.”
