“It’s the first place I’ve ever traveled to. And that’s the first place my mother took me on vacation. She took me with her father and I wrote a chapter about it in my book called ‘Royal Hawaiian,’” Barrymore, 49, said.

Johnson asked if that was the place Charlie’s Angels alum stayed, as her book is also the name of an iconic hotel located on Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach.

She confirmed that her family was indeed staying there during the visit.

“And then recently I was on a surfboard with my daughters and I looked over there and there was the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and it was the most complete moment of my life because as a 6-year-old girl I went there as a young girl alone. I love that you transport people to your homeland and respect your family,” Barrymore said.
