Driver Indicted in Alleged DUI Golf Cart Crash that Killed Bride on Wedding Night

A Charleston County grand jury has indicted a South Carolina woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into a golf cart, killing the bride on her wedding night earlier this year, according to multiple media outlets.

Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was charged Wednesday with one count of reckless homicide, one count of felony DUI resulting in death and two counts of felony DUI resulting in serious bodily injury, according to court documents obtained by NBC News , WCSC-TV and WNCT -TV.

It is not clear whether she has entered a plea to the charges. PEOPLE reached out to Comoroski’s attorney for comment, but he did not immediately return a call Thursday.

Authorities said Komoroski allegedly had more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit when she struck a golf cart carrying newlyweds Samantha Miller, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, in Folly Beach, SC, on April 28. 36, and two others.

Miller died at the scene from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal previously told PEOPLE.

Miller’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, previously said in a GoFundMe campaign that her sister was still wearing her wedding dress when she died.

“Samantha was fearless and that’s exactly how she spent the last day of her life,” Jenkins wrote. “She was so excited to start her life with Arica. She had no nerves or hesitation that day. You could feel the love on the beach.”

“But she was more than just a bride. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend to everyone, a mother to two cats,” she continued. “She was a beautiful person, inside and out, who just wanted to make people around her laugh.”

Hutchinson suffered serious injuries in the crash, including a brain injury and multiple broken bones, according to a GoFundMe page created by Hutchinson’s mother, Annette Hutchinson. Two relatives riding in the golf cart were reportedly injured but are expected to recover.

In May, Hutchinson filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Komoroski and multiple restaurants and bars where she allegedly “bar-walked” in the hours before the fatal crash, PEOPLE reported.

The lawsuit alleges that Miller’s death could have been prevented if “negligent” establishments had not overserved Komoroski with alcohol.

“Despite being noticeably and visibly intoxicated at each of these establishments,” the lawsuit alleges, “Jaime Komoroski continued to be served, provided and/or permitted to consume alcohol at each of them.”
