The training season is over — it’s finally time for Dua Lipa’s new album.
The Grammy winner has revealed the title and cover art for her upcoming third studio album Radical optimism on Wednesday, and the 11-track project is set to be released on May 3.
“A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to this term Radical optimism. It’s a concept that resonated with me and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life,” Lipa, 28, said in a statement. “It hit me — the idea of moving through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm.”

The “One Kiss” singer then teased the different genres she’ll explore on the album: “At the same time, I found myself looking through the musical history of psychedelia, trip hop and Britpop. It always felt so reliably upbeat, and that honesty and attitude are that I took to my recordings.”
Radical optimism has been preceded by two singles so far. “Houdini”, released in November 2023, contained electro-psychedelic elements and peaked at number 11 on the Board Hot 100. Its follow-up, the disco-pop “Training Season,” dropped last month to No. 27 on the chart.
Lipa recently performed both songs at the 2024 Grammy Awards last month, where she Barbie the soundtrack hit “Dance the Night” was nominated for both Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

During a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!the “Don’t Start Now” musician revealed that she “wrote 97 songs” for Radical optimism in a notebook purchased from CVS.
“I started writing for this album in 2021 and I just wanted to write down my ideas,” Lipa said on the talk show last month. “So I went to CVS and I just bought a random notebook. If I’d known how important that book would be, I might have gotten a fancier one.”

Host Jimmy Kimmel (56) expressed his surprise that she got such an important book from a pharmacy. “I love CVS. I’m obsessed with it,” Lipa replied. “There’s nothing like CVS or going in and buying a bunch of stuff you don’t need.”
After showing the real notebook, Lipa revealed, “It has all the songs I wrote for this album. I wrote 97 songs.”
