A group of hooded and masked youths set trash cans on fire in front of an empty house to prevent police officers from approaching the rioters.

The crooks then ransacked the empty house, throwing things from the address and breaking windows.

Children as young as 10 were allegedly involved in the massacre.

Fire crews and police rushed to the scene, and police officers were also hired to control the riots.

One local said: “It’s so scary. They’re going too far.”

The night is believed to have started off peacefully enough, with a few masked kids.

But things started to change when the crowd gathered and started setting off fireworks.

Groups of masked kids appeared along with older people.

Officers were seen talking to children before chaos broke out.

One officer told the young man, “Just stay out of trouble. Nobody wants trouble. Take care.”

“You may wear a mask, but someone will know who you are.”

Wheelie bins were also set on fire, and youths were seen standing on top of parked motorbikes amid the carnage.

Intervention police officers regained control of the streets after an hour of carnage.

Dozens of police officers wearing helmets and waving shields marched in the Kirkton area of Dundee.

Masked neds screamed at them: “Let’s go.”

But in a few seconds the young people ran away.

As they ran, they left burning buckets behind.

Council leader John Alexander – who represents Kirkton – condemned this year’s riots.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, he labeled those involved as “absolute morons” describing the “pathetic, ugly” scenes as a “sad sight”.

He said: “Once again, a small group brings down the area and for what … chases, to appear ‘hard’ or ‘fun’.

“Look at the age of some of those in the videos.

“If you know your children are involved in this, then unfortunately you are part of the problem.

“As a parent as much as a councilor for the area, it makes me incredibly angry to see this.

“I am in contact with the police officers as I type and they keep me updated.

“Well done to a group of around 50 people who have literally caused enormous worry and concern in the area, costing the taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds and once again bringing down their own community.

“Thank you, as always, to Tayside Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for putting themselves in harm’s way to protect the community.”

Last year, riot police rushed into a Dundee neighborhood after a bonfire erupted in violence.

Thieves were filmed recklessly throwing fireworks and burning roadblocks were set alight on a street in the city’s Kirkton district on Halloween.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police and emergency services are attending a disturbance and fire in the Beauly Avenue and Beauly Square area of Dundee. Officers were called to the area at around 7.45pm this evening (Tuesday 31 October 2023).”
