Dusty Rhodes was born on October 11, 1945. His name is Virgil Riley Runnels Jr. He was born in a poor neighborhood of Austin, Texas, USA, as the son of a plumber. He went to Johnston High School and graduated there. After graduation, Dusty went on to play baseball and football at West Texas State (now known as West Texas A&M University).
