EAMONN Holmes and Ruth Langsford have issued a statement announcing their intention to divorce.
TV’s golden couple married in 2010 after mutual friends met them back in 1991 and presented This Morning for 15 years together.

The news will come as a shock to millions of fans who watched the couple in their regular Friday slot on TV.
A spokesperson told fans of their split in a short but sweet statement.
It said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
The pair haven’t been seen together in over two years, and they last appeared side by side in an Instagram skit.
Pals told The Sun on Sunday that the couple had recently become estranged.
Often seen at celebrity events, the TV duo have not been seen together for months.
Their work commitments “took them in different directions,” the sources said.
But the pair were determined to remain friends and “keep things amicable”.
Ruth continued to nurse Eamonn back to good health after a medical scare that left him with difficulty walking.
A few days ago the 64-year-old Loose Women opened up to fans about Eamonn’s health, saying: “I look at Eamonn, who has had health problems and back problems, and you realize how important your health is.

“I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope. He’s doing physiotherapy, but maybe he needs to accept that it might never be 100 percent accurate.”
But Ruth seems to have hinted at problems with Eamonn’s many health problems of late.
She said, “I thought, well, I am and I’m not. You know what I mean? It’s human.
“You can’t help it, but when you’re helping someone all the time and they’re very incompetent, it’s hard to be Florence Nightingale all the time.”

Her comments followed Eamonn’s remarks on his GB News breakfast show.
He said: “I think my family is a bit fed up with me now.
“The kids are a bit uncomfortable with how I move or don’t move, and Ruth is a bit fed up with me.”
Years ago there were signs that the couple was in trouble.
One clear sign was that neither of them had posted to each other’s social media or appeared at events together in over two years.
Their last social media post where they were seen together was in July 2022, when Ruth and Eamonn performed a skit to promote her Feeling Fabulous event.

Although this is the last time they were seen on camera together, in September 2023 they were still together, and Eamonn filmed Ruth making a face and asking her “What are you doing?”
In an interview with The Sun in 2020, Ruth revealed what she thought was the secret to a happy marriage.
She said: “I don’t have a secret to a happy marriage. If I did, I’d write a book and make a fortune! I definitely feel that Eamonn and I had chemistry from the moment we met – and we still do.

For many years, Eamonn and Ruth were the mum and dad of morning television, smiling into the living rooms of millions of people, like real family members.
After sitting with them on the This Morning couch and witnessing their warm banter and intimate, happy banter, it was clear to see the connection, love and respect they had together and it made for magical television.
Therefore, it will come as a sad shock to many that the popular couple has split up and quietly planned a divorce behind the scenes.
It’s been a tumultuous few years since I discovered, back in 2020, that ITV had axed them from This Morning, ending their reign as on-screen husband and wife, with Eamonn struggling with his health and mobility.
I’m sure their fans will shower them with support as they navigate these difficult next steps and move on with their separate lives.
“Even when he’s annoying me or when we’ve been really grumpy, he’ll say something to make me laugh. There are times when I don’t like him, but I love him. I’d like to think he feels the same way.”
Their natural on-screen chemistry has proved a constant hit with viewers on various shows – even though Eamonn is.
In 2021, Eamonn told The Sun: “When you work together and live together, there’s no time for downtime.
“Other TV presenters have minor disagreements on set and then jump into their cars and go home. It can last all day with us!”
“You can be sure that whatever I say – almost everything – Ruth will say or think the opposite, and then we end up fighting on screen.
“It seems to be working for those watching at home. For now she’s enjoying doing Loose Women and I’m excited about my new project.”
