EastEnders legend quits just months into BBC comeback – and their final scenes have already aired

EASTENDERS legend Kim Medcalf has left the BBC soap – just months after returning.

The actress – who plays Sam Mitchell in the BBC soap – originally returned two years ago to return as the iconic villain.

Kim Medcalf has left EastEnders after finishing her job recently

She took a break earlier last year and returned by the end of the year.

But now it has been revealed that she was only making a brief return – after deciding to leave the soap once again.

Sam’s exit was shown on screens tonight as she was forced to leave Walford after an explosive row with brother Phil.

He tried to con her out of her inheritance from Aunt Sal, forcing her to blackmail him for money.

But once she had it in her hands, Phil’s insults got the better of her and she exposed his cheating with Emma and blew up his marriage to Kat.

As Phil’s life was falling apart, he turned on Sam and warned him to leave before he could get his revenge.

And after an emotional conversation with her son Ricky, she betrayed him again and left him.

Actress Kim revealed: “It was great, as always! It was perfect timing for me and it worked well to have Sam back for another short stint.

“That’s the beauty of this character – I love that he comes in, disrupts things, and then leaves debris in his wake.

“This time, she was kicked out of a van, took £100k from Phil to pay back to a drug dealer and then blew up his marriage to Kat!

“There’s a lot of drama with Sam, and it’s never easy. Let’s hope he comes back to cause chaos once again.”

She added: “I love playing Sam because she’s so liberated. Sam only says what he sees; few of us do that because it would cause chaos!

“I don’t think she’s very cunning. Instead, she shakes in the moment.

“Sam doesn’t have that filter that other people have, and that’s fantastic to play. I respect her honesty.”
