EastEnders star’s dramatic exit confirmed – and they’ve already filmed their final scenes

EASTENDERS have confirmed the star’s dramatic departure – and have already left the show.

Fans of the BBC One soap watched as rapist Dean went on trial after being wrongly accused of murdering Keanu Taylor.

The character’s outlook looked increasingly grim during the week as the Six’s testimony was heard.

However, when Dean – played by Matt Di Angelo – confessed to sexually abusing Linda Carter in court, a mistrial was declared.

Longtime viewers will know that Dean has spent the past decade protesting his innocence of the crime, constantly undermining Linda.

Scenes showed Dean being held in custody while Linda went to confess to killing Keanu on Christmas Day.

But while fans wait to find out Dean’s fate, Beeb bosses have confirmed that Matt has now officially left Albert Square.

In a message posted on social media, a spokesperson said: “Farewell to the magnificent Matt Di Angelo, the famous and insidious Dean Wicks.

“From all the cast and crew at EastEnders… Thank you, we’ll miss you!”

EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw also paid tribute to Matt in a recently released video.

In the recording, he said: “I just wanted to say a big thank you to Matt for giving us one of the most vile characters, one of the most hated characters in Britain and on British television.”

“Thank you for coming back and playing this next chapter of Dean’s story.”

Dean first joined EastEnders in 2006. He is the son of Shirley Carter and Buster Briggs.

He returned in 2014 and was introduced as the brother of Danny Dyer’s character Mick Carter.

The villain left in 2016 before reprising his role earlier this year, bringing his sick daughter Jade to Albert Square.

The EastEnders stars who QUIT

MICHELLE Collins has seen her second stint on EastEnders boost her bank balance. Which stars dropped out this year, though?

The Sun exclusively reported how Michelle, 62, was down £20,000 on her company accounts when she agreed to make a shock return from the dead to Albert Square last year.

Her character, Cindy Beale, was presumed dead off-camera in 1998.

But what about the 2024 releases?

Earlier this summer, loyal fans of the soap seem to have noticed Stevie Mitchell “quitting” the long-running series.

It came after Alan Ford had enjoyed just six months on screen.

Bobby Beale actor Clay Milner Russell also left this year after five years at Walford.

Fans also feared that Martin Fowler’s actor James Bye would “drop out of boredom” due to the recent stories.

In addition, a host of stars have left the BBC soap for Hollywood fame.

One of the most successful stars of the BBC One soap opera is Rob Kazinsky.

He played Stacey Slater’s brother, Sean Slater from 2006 to 2009, and starred in the Hollywood blockbusters Pacific Rim and Captain Marvel.

Ben Hardy, who left EastEnders as Bobby Beale almost ten years ago, went on to tear Hollywood apart the following year, when he played the Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse.

He has since played Roger Taylor in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and starred in Michael Bay’s Netflix film 6 Underground.

Michelle Ryan played Zoe Slater until 2005.

She played the lead role in the short-lived American series Bionic Woman from 2007 to 2008.
