Eddie Murphy Makes a Deal with an Elf for the ‘Best Christmas Ever’ in Candy Cane Lane Trailer

Eddie Murphy is ready to create Christmas magic.

On Thursday, Prime Video presented the first teaser trailer for Candy Cane Lanestarring Murphy, 62, as Christmas-loving dad Chris who throws himself into winning his neighborhood’s house-decorating contest.

“I can safely say you have never seen a holiday movie like this,” director Reginald Hudlin recently told PEOPLE. “We’ve got jumps, car chases and kung-fu fights, plus all the holiday cheer.”

According to the synopsis, Murphy’s character Chris is “on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decorating contest.”

He colludes with a “naughty elf” named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to increase his chances of winning the competition when she casts “a magical spell that brings the 12 days of Christmas to life and wreaks havoc on the entire town.”

In order to save Christmas, Chris must work with his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross) and their three children “to break Pepper’s spell, fight treacherous magical characters,” the synopsis adds.

Candy Cane Lane also starring Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, DC Young Fly, Riki Lindhome, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, Danielle Pinnock and Timothy Simons.

“I can’t wait for the world to see Candy Cane Lane,” Hudlin previously said in a statement. “I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to make something fresh and surprising.”

The director added that Murphy “and this hilarious cast really bring the funny.”

“It’s a great Christmas and it will hit you in the gut,” he said.

Candy Cane Lane is on Prime Video on December 1st.
