After more than a month on air, Love Island UK has finally announced the winner. Ekin-Su and Davide were named the nation’s favorite couple and the winners of a well-deserved £50,000 cash prize. The last episode, however, had a surprise.
In the finale, host Laura Whitmore said that the winner of the program will not be able to take all the money for the first time. The winning couple will have to share the $100,000 prize with their followers this year. The surprise conclusion shocked viewers who waited until the final to see if the winning couple would break up or take the money, implying whether they were on Love Island UK for love or money.
What happened in the last episode of Love Island UK?
In the last episode, the islanders were invited to the Love Island Summer Ball 2022, where they performed salsa and shared emotional confessions with each other before host Laura Whitmore announced the winner of the show. However, before the news was announced, she revealed:
“Who will be declared the winner of Love Island 2022? The lucky couple will win a grand prize of £50,000!”
Then she revealed a twist in the series:

Who are Davide and Ekin-Su, the winners of Love Island UK?
Both members of the winning couple auditioned for the show’s eighth season in hopes of finding love. After some difficulties, the Italian stallion Davide met the Turkish joy Ekin-Su and the two fell in love in the first week of the competition. They were one of the most feared competitors on the show. Despite being voted the “least compatible couple” by the islanders in one of the episodes, the pair eventually won. 27-year-old Davide is a businessman from Rome who now lives in Manchester. He entered the dating program hoping to meet a “soul mate” with whom “he could really create something in the future, develop with them and be a family.”
Ekin-Su, 27, is an actress from Essex who appeared on ‘Looking for Love [her] life.” She was “not just looking for looks,” but also a “serious man” with “intelligence” and “someone who can talk well.”
In the program, they were both looking for a loving relationship and they found it. After their romantic date, their parents approved of their romance. When the couple won the show, they thanked their followers for voting for them and helping them take the top spot.
