Mark Driscoll, a well-known radio host and voice artist, died at the age of 72 yesterday, August 22, 2022. Driscoll died while receiving treatment at a West Palm Beach hospital. AllAccess.com, a music and radio trading website, originally reported Driscoll’s death, which was later confirmed by Art Vuolo, a noted director and radio industry historian. Prior to his death, Mark had moved to West Palm Beach and had been battling health issues since July 2022. The exact cause of Mark’s death is unknown. His funeral will be announced as soon as possible.

Mark Driscoll was a well-known program director, voice artist and radio DJ on many stations. His unusual voice was recognized by most experts in the industry. As a youngster, the Oklahoma native began his career at Texas under Gordon McLendon. He then worked in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, DCDC Driscoll also provided the voice for ABC shows such as Scandal and served as the voice behind Don Pardo on Saturday Night Live. He then contributed his voice to Fox’s primetime show. Mark’s TV voiceover work was handled by Avalon Artists Group of Los Angeles.
Mark rose to radio prominence in 1991 as a result of his promotional work on channels and client stations such as WKHI-FM, KKLQ-FM “Q106” and KTFM “Hot 103”. When WIOQ-FM “Q102” in Philadelphia first went on the air in 1989, Driscoll’s voice was used for pictures and commercials. At the time, WEGX “Eagle 106” had recently entered the Top 40. Tony Novia, former CHR/pop editor at Radio & Records, recalled:
“He was part of Randy Michaels’ psychological thinking when he set up ‘The Power Pig’ in Tampa.”
Beginning in 1974, Mark worked for WBBF in Rochester, New York, then KSTP/Minneapolis in 1976 and WNBC-AM in New York, where he hosted the 6-10 pm slot until October 1978. Driscoll then decided to work as program consultant and voiceover artist.
