[This is a review for season 3 episode 14 of Z Nation. There will be SPOILERS.]
The entire season, if not the entire series, Country Z has been building toward a specific climax: bringing Murphy (Keith Allen) to California so the CDC can use his blood to develop a treatment for the H1Z1 virus. As we saw at the end of Season 2, it’s all a ruse by wealthy people living in the so-called utopia “Zona.” As Murphy’s mission descends into chaos, Warren (Kellyta Smith) and her crew abandon their mission to save the world—until they meet Dr. May Sun (Sidney Wynnrouen), who Ask them to look for Murphy’s life again – to save blood.because Country Z Showrunners are constantly looking to give characters purpose and narrative beyond simple existence.
To this end, Murphy decides to become the zombie messiah, using Dr. Murch’s (Lisa Coronado) serum to produce his own army of “hybrid” for his New World Order. He has mind control over 10K (Nat Zang) and has a stronghold with a zombie moat in Spokane, Washington. At the same time, Warren, Doctor (Russell Hodgkinson), Adi (Anastasia Baranova) and Hector (Emilio Rivera) teamed up to Soon encounters the deadly vigilante group known as the Red Hands. As if that wasn’t enough, both groups now must deal with the ruthless pursuit of “The Man” (Joseph Gat), a tenacious headhunter entrusted by Zona to bring in Murphy for testing at all costs.
It’s been an up-and-down season as far as writing and directing Country ZIn terms of overall production value, “Scorpion and the Red Hand” is one of the strongest episodes of the season. Still, standalone storylines like “Doc’s Angels” and “Election Day” help give the main story a chance to breathe and fully develop over the course of all 14 episodes.This is the first season Country Z A split narrative was used, choosing to divide the characters into several groups, each with their own mission or goals. Warren and Dr. May try to get Red Hand to help attack Murphytown, while Doc and Eddie try to save Lucy (Bea Colley/Caitlin Carmichael) from kidnapping her and taking her to meet the “gangsters” Members were rescued from the hands of others. zona.

“Everybody Dies Eventually” is written and directed by Abram Cox (who directed the season opener “No Mercy”) and he attacks the story with the same fervor he did 13 episodes ago – it’s a thing Good thing. A few episodes left some things hanging, which Cox did a good job with. The man and the ever-aging Lucy were soon heading to a new rendezvous to meet Zona, with the Doctor and Addy in hot pursuit Not to leave – but they were traveling blind. Thinking on her feet, Lucy used her telepathic zombie powers to leave a trail of zombie breadcrumbs in the form of “Grandpa”, a man who simply pointed to Lucy A directional zombie—or as the doctors call it, an “apocalyptic GPS.”
Meanwhile, Warren agrees to help Murphy rescue his daughter, so she, Dr. May, and the ailing 10K are racing to intercept the man before he turns over his daughter. Although Citizen Z (DJ Qualls) is not found, Kaya-a (Ramona Young) in the sky is radioing the team new coordinates. The Man and Lucy are trapped in a mountain bunker, and the Doctor and Eddie try to find a way inside. Despite Adi’s protests, he leaves the doctor and grandpa in an attempt to climb the mountain and enter from the top – a shaky plan at best. The hippie/zombie duo are ambushed by Zona soldiers with glowing white eyes. They are apparently immune to the H1Z1 virus, but that immunity is starting to wane.
After mistakenly taking pity on Grandpa, Warren and the gang – now including Red (Natalie Junggaren Rapp) and 5K (Holton Goyette) – enter the bunker, But 10K is critically ill, and Dr. Mei fears he is going to die. She has a daring plan to save him – he must die. Based on Dr. Murch’s notes from Murphy’s original experiments (which made him immune to the virus), she determines that the only way to save 10K’s life is to kill him.This move is sure to make every teenage girl’s heart flutter Country Z, they came up with a four-step plan: suffocate. die. bite. injection. So Warren strangled 10K to death. he died. Murphy bit him. Dr. Mei injected him with experimental serum. At first, Cox seemed to make a bold move by having a fan-favorite character buried (something Season 4 should consider), but he was resurrected minutes later.
Meanwhile, Addy is climbing the steep face of Rock Mountain to put on her best goat persona, but in the process manages to drop her trusty shuttle bat. Eventually, Warren, Doc, and Murphy confront the man at the top of the mountain, and Murphy shoots but doesn’t kill him, ending the story. In a hand-to-hand combat scene (which demonstrates Murphy’s impressive strength), the man manages to shoot both Murphy and Warren with the same bullet. As they fall to the ground injured, The Man grabs Lucy and jumps off the edge of the cliff, with Addy and 5K following him into the unknown abyss. Around that time, a plane from Zona appears and begins using powerful blaster weapons, targeting Warren, Murphy, the Doctor, and Red – leaving everyone’s fate completely unknown.
final thoughts
All in all, “Everyone Dies in the End” is a bit of a misleading title, since the only people who die in this episode are the Zona soldiers and Grandpa (one of our favorite new zombies this season). Still, Cox does a great job of completing the story points that have been building up to much of the season while laying the groundwork for what is sure to be an exciting and entertaining fourth season. That’s not to say this season isn’t without its flaws. Citizen Z is still immature (even though he now has a girlfriend and is about to have a baby), and the show feels a bit straying from the tone of humor and slyness that made the show so entertaining.
Throughout the season, Warren’s enthusiastic attitude was replaced by a “whatever it takes” attitude. This transformed her from a fearless leader to a formidable person—the difference is pretty striking. In many ways, she’s identical to Murphy, and as much as she hates to admit it, she chooses to obtain his blood at all costs – her mission becoming more important than her humanity. Doc has been in the Z-weed for most of the season, although his solo episode “Doc’s Angels” gave him a much-needed showcase. Addy’s maternal instincts kick in on Lucy, and watching her sheer determination save her from that man is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
While Red and 5K have found a warm place in most fans’ hearts, they are without a doubt the best additions Country Z This is the season of The Man. Gait brings a grim charisma to the role that people love to hate–just what the series needs right now. He gives Zona a face and turns an otherwise cookie-cutter character into an interesting and understandable antagonist that all fans will be eagerly waiting to see again next season.
